Request Data for Research

The NMPED Assessment, Research, Evaluation & Accountability Division welcomes partnerships with academic institutions, non-profits, and national research organizations. We seek data-driven research projects that align with our research priorities.

The PED Research Review and Data Sharing Process​

NMPED maintains a formal review and approval process for research and administrative data requests to ensure appropriate data sharing and governance. The Data Owners’ Council (DOC) oversees agency-wide compliance with NMPED data standards and strategic priorities.

1. Submit an Administrative Data Request Form (ADRF) to staff of a relevant bureau or division​
2. ADRF initial review and communication with requestor ​
3. ADRF review and decision by DOC​
4. If Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is required for an approved ADRF, submit the Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) template​
5. DSA review and decision by DOC​
6. Fulfillment of data request by secure data transfer

Student Privacy and FERPA Compliance​

NMPED is committed to protecting student privacy and fully complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws. All data sharing activities adhere to federal student privacy requirements. The Data Owners’ Council adheres to FERPA guidance for State Education Agencies, State Education Agency Data Sharing and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
