Research Priorities

Mission and Priorities

Our research initiatives and efforts are prioritized to support the NMPED Strategic Plan for Success, the Martinez/Yazzie Action Plan, and ESSA principles. AREA division identifies and pursues research that that provides an evidence base for the department’s Four Strategic Pillars.

Our research and evaluation efforts are organized around four foundational pillars aimed at transforming educational outcomes by 2027:

• Educator Ecosystem
  Focusing policies on the recruitment, retention, and professional development of highly effective, culturally responsive educators.
• Whole Student & Culturally Responsive Education
  Evaluating deeper, enriched academic learning integrated with social-emotional support and positive school climates.
• College & Career Readiness
  Analyzing research-based and experiential learning opportunities that prepare students to be productive members of their communities.
• Student Supports & Opportunities
  Measuring equitable access to health services, attendance supports, and extended learning opportunities for all students.

  We focus on measurable outcomes that support the Martinez-Yazzie mandate and the ESSA principles.
