PED Accrediting Agency Approval Process

Dear Accrediting Agency Representative:

On May 15th, 2026, the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) announced the implementation of its process for approving accrediting agencies pursuant to 6.19.4 NMAC. NMPED has now finalized the application materials for accrediting agencies seeking NMPED approval under 6.19.4.9(E) NMAC.

State Approval of Accrediting Agencies

The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) has released updated guidance regarding the approval of accrediting agencies in New Mexico. The memo outlines new requirements and processes for agencies that accredit nonpublic schools and provide supplemental accreditation services to public schools.
