Summer Enrichment Internship Program

Mission

The College and Career Readiness Bureau (CCRB) launched the Summer Enrichment Internship Program (SEIP) in 2021. The federal government provided a $9.8 million set-aside for student enrichment as part of pandemic relief efforts. The set-aside funding was used to launch the summer enrichment internship program and to provide enrichment activities to address learning loss, build career skills, and provide economic opportunities. With the federal set-aside funding nearly exhausted, in winter 2023, the New Mexico Legislature provided funding to maintain and grow the program on behalf of our high school aged youth. Under the program, funding provides paid internship opportunities for New Mexico high school students at a variety of workplace sites including county, municipal, pueblo and tribal government sites.

Beginning with the summer of 2026, NM PED has identified and awarded an experienced vendor, Education at Work, to administer this highly successful program statewide. Education at Work is ensuring that the program remains rigorous as an internship program.
