Overview

The NMPED awards funding to approved Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) to provide high-quality, full-year residencies for aspiring principals. The goal of the residencies is to provide authentic, field based opportunities to practice competencies so that residency graduates are better prepared for their new roles upon graduation. This strategy will strengthen the bench of aspiring principals–which will improve their retention and school practices critical to student success.

SY2026-27 Request for Applications

Pending funding approvals, NMPED intends to fund 40 principal residencies for SY2026-27. Proposals are due Monday 2/23/2026 at 4pm.
