Together our groups meet the IT Mission to create and improve systems, rules, and processes that provide broader access to better information necessary to support PED achieve its mission and goals. We do this to fulfill the IT Vision of connecting New Mexico with accurate and actionable education data.
PED-IT Cybersecurity works to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PED’s systems and student data with current cybersecurity practices. To provide cybersecurity guidance, training/awareness resources, and best practices to PED divisions and staff.
Digital Excellence works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students have the tools, resources, and support they need to be successful. Our goal is to close the digital divide which means every student has high-quality internet connectivity, a digital device so they can complete school work, and digital citizenship training to responsibly and safely use the internet .
PED IT infrastructure is the foundation that enables the New Mexico Public Education Department to build and run applications essential for its operations. It includes hardware, software, networks, and data management systems, ensuring efficient and secure access to resources necessary for agency success.
We provide support for Nova and our legacy STARS longitudinal data systems which collect data from nearly 200 New Mexico school districts and charter schools. We also provide support to several other key applications you can find at IT Applications. These systems enable PED staff to make informed and key decisions to improve student outcomes.
The PMO oversees strategic endeavors to improve PED systems and processes. We manage IT Contracts and work with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) at the Dept of IT (DoIT) to ensure compliance and best practices are being met.
