For Superintendents

Welcome

Thank you for the hard and important work you do every day to lead and support your district. Strong leadership at the superintendent level is essential to helping school boards meet their training requirements and grow in their ability to govern effectively.

The Public Education Department (PED) has developed resources, tools, and processes to make this responsibility clear and manageable. By connecting board members with approved trainings, supporting the feedback process, and monitoring progress toward required hours, you are strengthening your board’s ability to govern with clarity, accountability, and confidence.

1. Understanding Requirements

Before delivering a training session, each course must be approved by PED.

  • Training Categories Chart
  • School board members in their first term shall complete at least ten hours of training during their first year serving on the board.
  • Training for all other school board members shall include at least five hours per year and cover all categories.

2. Training Presenters & Course Approval

  • Only PED-approved presenters and courses count toward required hours.
  • Presenters must submit the PED Presenter Packet and a detailed course blueprint (included in application).

3. Attendance & Feedback Process

  • At each training, board members must complete the Attendance & Feedback Form to receive credit provided by the presenter.
  • This verifies district, member, hours, and course details while also collecting feedback.
