The National Standards for Quality Online Teaching provide a framework for schools, districts, state agencies, statewide online programs and other interested educational organizations to improve online teaching and learning.

Google + Canvas better together (Canvas Course Resource)

Google + Canvas Resource Center! This Resource Center is meant to provide insight into the world of Google integration into Canvas. Dive into the specifics of how to integrate the most commonly used Google tools/apps in Canvas, so that you can maximize teaching and learning for your students!

College Board AP Online Classes and Resources

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program that is run by the College Board (the makers of the SAT) that allows students to take advanced high school courses that can earn them college credit and/or qualify them for more advanced classes when they begin college.

Colorado Department of Education Blended Learning Information Site

Colorado’s Office of Blended and Online Learning website offers resources such as videos, articles, and links to many other resources.

State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA)

This has a number of resources for educators surrounding “eLearning” that includes content, lessons, teacher resources, case studies, home access, and so on.

Pathway2Careers

This Math Curriculum is one of the solutions offered through the C2C program and is available to all New Mexico schools at no-cost. It is Intended to be used in a blended learning model, P2C lessons supplement and compliment the core curriculum. This curriculum is on the PED approved math supplemental material list. Educator support for seamless integration and implementation provided by MC2.

Digital Content

High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) are content-rich, fully accessible, culturally and linguistically relevant, free from bias, research-based, and aligned to New Mexico state standards. They are written with clear purpose, effective lesson structure, and pacing to provide flexibility for teachers to best suit the learning styles of all students, encouraging inquiry and curiosity. HQIM may also provide a variety of relevant assessments to equip teachers with professional tools to evaluate student comprehension of the content and provide deeper understanding of the standards. It is expected that teachers use HQIM regardless of platform used and/or teaching format. Below are the four options for obtaining and/or using digital content in Canvas that abides by these expectations.

1. Your own, local content

Use locally-adopted high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), whether open educational resources (OER) or by working with publishers to integrate digital content, teachers can follow guidance for implementing or creating content.

2. State-acquired Open Educational Resources (OERs)

Use or modify content from high-quality State-acquired Open Education Resources (OERs). The NMPED is in the process of acquiring OERs for use in the classroom. These are high quality instruction materials that will provide schools a jump start in building out digital lessons. Vet and use shared high-quality content created and shared by existing New Mexico Canvas users, potentially through the NM Canvas Consortium.

4. Canvas Commons

Vet and use high-quality content from Canvas Commons. Canvas Commons is a learning object repository that enables educators to find, import, and share resources. Using Commons, instructors can share content with other teachers and departments, among other schools, and with worldwide Canvas instructors. Instructors can also import course content from a variety of sources for course creation. An instructor can modify imported content to best fit the needs of their students.
